Well the pavements and sidewalks are cracking up, literally!
The following two photos show the damage that is caused when the sun heats the paving tiles / bricks all day long. The first photo shows the impact damage from the expasion whereas the second photo shows the engineering feature designed to stop this happening….. A one inch gap!
Don’t worry… the runways at the airport are built with a special concrete that prevents this occuring there!
Expanding tiles push against one another and the only way is up! The high tech solution... A GAP!
